"Calan has the most amazing time at the Listen to Me Group and we love our sessions with Tracy. The class has shown us a new way to communicate with Calan and he really does engage so well with us following the classes.

Tracy not only simplifies signing making it easy to pick up by creating songs for the children to sing along to but she engages so well with them all making it fun for everyone, even us parents too."

"Nate and I (Charlotte) attend Under 10’s Stay & Play and Forest School with Wonderwoods. Where possible, Nates older brother Zac comes this us too.

We LOVE attending Wonderwoods. There is something magical about Carly's space. Nate is free, encouraged to do as he wishes and the environment makes me feel so calm.

Kids are just kids in Wonderwoods, you leave the hectic world behind.

Under 10's Stay & Play are a little more hectic 🙂 The soft play being a main goal of most of the kids. We see more families there and have loved meeting and introducing ourselves to long term members (with us being relatively new).

Parents see Nate and suggest Charities and Support that we should get involved with and it's been priceless!

We are still very early in our journey but we see families thriving and we know that there are people to ask the "silly" questions to.

"Lacey joined SDSSG when she was about 12 months old. I’d originally been given details by the specialist health visitor and decided to call the designated group contact at the time to find out more about the charity. We really wanted to meet other parents to find out more and gain an understanding and experience from those with older children. We originally started attending the ‘Stay and Play’ sessions and the contact / chats with other parents over the years proved to be invaluable and friendships were formed.

Due to her age, Lacey has now progressed to the newly formed ‘Buddy Group’. The first trip out together was to Circus Las Vegas a couple of months ago. A great time was had by all! 

Lacey also attends the football sessions at Solihull Moors Football Ground. Although she prefers to throw rather than kick the ball, she enjoys and benefits from the social interaction that her peer group provides."

With a variety of venues to visit and enjoy, it enables Stephen to meet new people where his confidence & communication skills have improved tremendously."

"My daughter’s attends the drama group organized by SDSSG and ran by Spot Drama. She loves the activities which are a great mixture of organized games and imaginative activities. The sessions often have themes, can involve storytelling and are inclusive.

They include interaction for varied abilities and communication styles. Lydia and her team are fantastic in keeping the attendees engaged and involved, plus have great experience of dealing with young people with special needs. The sessions have also been a great opportunity to make new friendships. When I asked my daughter what she likes about the drama group, she simply said it is fun!"

"Our group attend weekly football sessions run by Solihull Moors Football club every Friday.

The sessions are split for under 16’s and over 16’s and focused on giving our members football skills and an opportunity to have a fun together outdoors.

Coaching is done in small groups to allow for our children’s needs and ensure there is some 121 element too.

My son, Sam loves the sessions, even when it’s cold in the winter, as looks forward to time with his friends and have fun."
